The firearms dealer WH e.K. offers:Semi-automatic Star Firearms – pistol of the F series, FR Sport .22lr, 6" barrel STAR, Bonifacio Echeverría S.A. was a firearms manufacturer specializing in the production of handguns. It was based in Éibar, Basque Country, like some other companies traditionally producing firearms in this area. The tradition of firearms manufacturing combined with the good reputation of Spanish steel meant that this industry could rely on a broad customer base, especially from the United States and Canada. The products remained sought after for quite some time even after production ceased. Furthermore, products from STAR were for a long time a fixed part of the equipment of the Spanish armed forces and police as well as the armed forces of other nations. During the Spanish Civil War, Éibar was part of the Republican side of Spain until its fall in April 1937. Then STAR fell into the hands of the Francoists and resumed production after the end of the civil war, with the main product now being the Z-45 submachine gun. STAR then became an official supplier to the Spanish armed forces and police as well as the armed forces of some other countries, while successfully building up the private customer business in the USA and Canada. The F series is the all-purpose target pistol in caliber .22 Long Rifle of the classic Star pocket pistols. Its first appearance was in 1932, simultaneously with the similarly sized I series .32 pocket pistols; both are the largest of the line. All these pistols are generally similar in layout and scale, with a fixed barrel, straight blowback operation, and single-action lock. All feature a thumb-operated safety directly behind the trigger on the left side of the frame. The safety is operated by a lever on the left side, as usual with the thumb, but directly behind the trigger. The F model itself was produced in a number of variants, most of which were configured for precision shooting, with precision sights and longer barrels. In addition to the usual identification methods, most weapons of the Model F series appear to bear "US Patent 2,563,720" on the right side of the bolt. Three basic versions of this first model were produced, mainly differing in barrel length; a 4-inch version simply sold as Model F, a 6-inch version called F Sport, and a 7-inch version called F Target. The last series revision across the board took place in 1967. The biggest change was the addition of an external slide stop to hold the last shot open on the left side of the frame. The 6-inch FR Sport and 7-inch FR Target models both retained their thumb rest stocks, had a removable, interchangeable undercut sight, and removable, adjustable barrel weights. With the general discontinuation of classic series production by Star in 1983, production of the entire Model F series was completely stopped. No Star model of a .22 target or all-purpose pistol ever replaced the Model F pistol series.
