Manufactured by Beretta in Italy (PB) mainly for the American market. The special break barrel system is based on the pistol sold in large numbers in the 1920s, among others as Policeman, by the French manufacturer MANUFACTURE FRANCAISE. The small, handy semi-automatic pistol can be shot sportily and precisely like a single loader pistol for precise shots on the target. The barrel is tilted and loaded directly into the chamber with a cartridge. After cocking the external hammer, 1 precision shot is fired. With a loaded magazine, the pistol works like any semi-automatic self-loading pistol. After the first shot, the pistol automatically reloads. The 950 was produced from the early 1950s until its discontinuation in the early 2000s. The earlier models, known as 950B, were made in Italy, later in Brazil. After the GCA of 1968, it was manufactured domestically in Maryland with an additional manual thumb safety, hence the designation 950BS. It is a simple "blowback action" with a break barrel that makes loading and unloading the chamber safe and quick. The magazine release is a button located in the lower right corner of the left grip, similar to the original Beretta 92. The single-action trigger is crisp, not too heavy, and absolutely creep-free. The frame-mounted thumb safety is positive and cannot be accidentally engaged or disengaged. It holds 8 cartridges in the magazine plus one in the chamber for a total of 9 cartridges, making it a very attractive option for concealed carry.
