Clearance of my collection: SIG Sauer Mod. P229 Cal. .40 S&W

The SIG Sauer P229 in caliber .40 S&W was introduced in 1992 and was the world's first pistol specifically designed from the ground up for the more powerful .40 S&W cartridge.After a devastating shooting in Miami (1986), the US FBI sought a cartridge with more penetration power than the classic 9mm Luger. In cooperation with Winchester, Smith & Wesson shortened the case of the 10mm cartridge in 1990. The result was the .40 S&W – it offered the ballistics of the reduced 10mm load but fit into the frame of standard 9mm pistols.For the P229, SIG Sauer (manufactured at the new US factory in Exeter, New Hampshire) developed a completely new, heavier slide, milled from a single solid block of stainless steel using computer-controlled CNC technology.The pistol adopted the proven Double-Action/Single-Action trigger system (DA/SA) with the characteristic decocking lever on the left side of the grip.The massively constructed stainless steel slide of the .40 S&W variant allowed SIG Sauer to introduce its own high-performance caliber .357 SIG in 1994. Since both cartridges use the same case head, a P229 in .40 S&W can often be converted to .357 SIG with a simple barrel change.Department of Homeland Security (DHS): introduced as the standard sidearm for numerous sub-agencies. The P229 in .40 S&W is still considered one of the most robust all-metal pistols ever made.It comes from an inherited collection that I am gradually liquidating after careful consideration. It is not easy to part with these pieces, but they should go to people who appreciate their quality and history.The rifle can of course be viewed and inspected on site by appointment.
