Liquidation of my collection: Mauser Model Agentinien 1909 DWM bolt-action rifle Cal. 7.65x53 Arg

The bolt-action rifle Mauser Modelo Argentino 1909 is considered by collectors and historians as one of the absolute highlights of military handheld firearm manufacturing before World War I. It is based on the legendary German Gewehr 98 system.At the end of the 19th century, Argentina modernized its army and initially introduced the Mauser Model 1891. After the success of the further developed German Gewehr 98, the Argentine government decided to order a successor model based on it. The result was the Modelo 1909.The deliveries of the weapons manufactured by the Berlin arms manufacturer DWM (Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken) mainly took place between 1910 and 1912.Although it is essentially a classic Mauser System 98, the Argentine military demanded specific modifications.The complex German "Lange-Visier" (also known as sliding sight) was replaced by a flatter, simpler drum or curve sight.The case was minimally modified so that the older stripper clips of the Model 1891 could still be used.The magazine cover can be conveniently flipped open by hand via a lever integrated into the trigger guard to quickly unload the magazine downward.The DWM military rifles of this era intended for export were manufactured with extremely tight tolerances and a mirror-polished surface finish of the case.The caliber: 7.65x53 mm Argentine (also known as 7.65x53 Belgian Mauser) was Paul Mauser's pioneering work and was already developed by him for the Belgian Model 1889. It was one of the world's first cartridges for smokeless powder. Ballistically, it is strongly comparable to the later .308 Winchester and is still considered extremely accurate today.Special collector's feature: Unlike many models exported to Chile or Peru, the Argentine 1909 Mausers often still bear the fully preserved, magnificent coat of arms of Argentina on the system case. On many older 1891 models, this was ground off during later export.It comes from an inherited collection that I am gradually dissolving after careful consideration. It is not easy to part with these pieces, but they should go into the hands of people who appreciate their quality and history.The rifle can of course be viewed and inspected on site by appointment.
