The Model 586 is made of a carbon steel construction and is available in blued or nickel-plated finishes. A robust and durable all-steel revolver, the Smith & Wesson 586 with its L-frame is one of the most popular classic .357 Magnum revolvers. The 586 is available in standard models with barrel lengths of 64, 76, 102, 153, and 214 mm, as well as other barrel lengths. The barrel has a twist rate of 1/18.75 for the 158-grain bullet. The Model 586 uses the "L" revolver frame (medium) from S&W with a grip in K-frame size, which is connected to a cylinder with a larger diameter. With its 6" barrel, the revolver is well-balanced and outstandingly precise at the shooting range.
