The arms dealer WH e.K. offers:Revolver COLT Detective Special .38 Special, 2" barrel CTG, collector's item or for hunters The Colt Detective Special is a six-shot, made of carbon steel with a 2-inch (51 mm) or 3-inch (76 mm) barrel double-action revolver and the first example of a class of firearms known as "snubnose revolvers." Colt was so impressed by the Fitz Special that they decided to produce a slightly less radical version, the Detective Special. It is merely a shortened and somewhat streamlined version of the Colt Police Positive Special. The Detective Special proved to be an immediate success and was produced until 1996. Due to disappointing sales figures, the Detective Special model was discontinued in 1996. The Detective Special has a slightly smaller frame than the Colt Official Police or Smith & Wesson Model 10 (K-Frame) revolvers, but is larger than the five-shot Smith & Wesson Model 36 / Model 38 / Model 42 (J-Frame) revolvers. The second series was produced from 1947 to 1972. The ejector rod was longer and had a groove at its knurled tip; a variant with a 76 mm (3 inch) barrel was also offered, which featured an even longer ejector rod. The cylinder latch was smooth, and the trigger spur was knurled. The right frame screw has no locking pin, and the rear half of the front sight is a knurled ramp. The grip panels were made of plastic in 1947 but were made of wood again starting in 1955 (initially with a silver Colt medallion).Manufacturer: Colt’s Manufacturing Company LLC, Hartford Connecticut, U.S.Importer: Brownells Deutschland GmbH, Lahnstraße 1, 24539 Neumünster ([email protected])Barrel marking: COLT'S PT.
