Since its market launch in 1993, more than 100,000 R93 units have been manufactured by Blaser Jagdwaffen GmbH until 2010. The locking system of this weapon is designed as a straight-pull repeater and is based on spreading claws that lock in the barrel of the weapon (partly referred to as ring lock, radial lock, or "Gardena lock"). In use by various police units as well as the Australian military are the versions Blaser R93 Tactical and its successor Blaser Tactical 2.
