Description

The arms dealer WH e.K. offers:J.P. Sauer&Sohn Model 13 (1913), 7.65 mm Browning, service pistol     The J. P. Sauer & Sohn GmbH is a German firearms manufacturer based in Isny im Allgäu in the Ravensburg district of Baden-Württemberg. The company was founded in 1751 in Suhl, Thuringia, making it the oldest active German firearms manufacturer. The manufacturer has since specialized in hunting weapons and today exclusively produces long guns for this sector. The Sauer & Sohn pistol model 1913, released shortly before World War I, was a very popular weapon among officers and non-commissioned officers of the Bundeswehr as well as among civilian personnel. With the end of the war, production was halted, resumed in 1922, and continued uninterrupted until 1935.The model from 1913 was exported in significant quantities to England, the Netherlands, the United States, Russia, and France. The Sauer&Sohn 13 was used as a sidearm for both officers and soldiers in World War I and enjoyed great popularity among various police units after the end of the conflict. This weapon was originally referred to as the "Model 1913 Variant 3 / Export Model" and was only later named Model 1926. The "Model 1913" was also delivered in a quantity of around 30,000 units to the German military during World War I, primarily serving as an officer's pistol – of these military examples, however, only about 10,000 are said to have received a regiment stamp or similar. The Sauer pistol was also later used as an "official weapon," for example, by police forces. In 1926, the safety lever was equipped with a nose that locks the slide in its rear position. The slide catch in the trigger guard is omitted in this development (as the slide is now held open by the nose of the safety lever). The additional safety remains, and the internal lock is identical to the model 1913, variant 3. The frame retains the square grip of the model 1913, but the trigger guard is now oval instead of round. The old-style magazine is retained, making the model 1926 interchangeable with the model 1913. The earliest pistols of the model 1926 had grips like the model 1913, variant 3; later, the grip panels displayed the word "Sauer." in a rectangle at the top and "Cal. 7.65" in a rectangle at the bottom. According to our sources, only about 10,000 of these weapons were produced (serial numbers approximately 161000 – 171400), making this model relatively rare.On June 1, 1948, the GDR government took over the company "JP Sauer & Sohn" on behalf of the Soviet military administration, and the Sauer family lost all property rights. The 1913 has great historical significance as a survivor of both world wars and was used by both the Bundeswehr and the police of the Weimar Republic.Manufacturer: J.
