ANSCHÜTZ has been a family business for over 165 years and is already in its 6th generation – founded in 1856 – and is a leading manufacturer of hunting and sports weapons in the international market. The German signal pistol lever 1894 was developed in Germany at the end of the 19th century and was adopted by the army on April 30, 1894. Production in Germany took place in three factories: Greifelt (G. Co.), Fritz Lagenhahn (FL), and JG Anschütz (JGA). After the end of World War I, Belgium received many examples as part of the war reparations, and production was taken over by the Belgian factories Francotte and DELU. They were used by the Belgian armed forces until the outbreak of World War II. German pilots often carried this type of flare pistol to signal British aircraft and balloons.This imperial German lever pistol from World War I, model 1894, is made of wood and steel, with a standard 26.5 mm caliber, but without the otherwise shortened barrel.
