Neuhausen (private models). The introduction took place by Federal Council resolution on May 5, 1882, for the unmounted officers. Later, the revolver was also issued to non-commissioned officers and the troops (depending on the type of unit). The first delivery to the army took place in September 1883, and the last Army revolver 82 was produced on November 21, 1932.A total of 37,254 Army revolvers 82 with the numbers 1 to 37,254 were manufactured for the army by W+F Bern. For other authorities, such as the Federal Customs Directorate, police corps, and judicial officers, as well as for private individuals, Army revolvers 82 were produced that have the letter P before the weapon number. These private revolvers were manufactured by W+F and S.I.G. Neuhausen (sometimes also labeled "Waffenfabrik Neuhausen" or "Fabrique d'armes Neuhausen"). The private Army revolvers 82 from W+F have a P before the weapon number, while the private revolvers from S.I.G. (etc.) do not. The Army revolvers 82 manufactured by the Bern weapon factory (W+F) carry an additional production number alongside the serial number. The Army revolver 82 has a front sight that is directly integrated into the barrel, and the rear sight is a fixed part of the frame. The safety is connected to the loading flap (Abadie system).  In literature, Army revolvers 82 with hard rubber grips are incorrectly referred to as "officer's revolvers," and Army revolvers 82 with wooden grips as "troop revolvers." The grip materials were changed from hard rubber to wood for reasons of stability and production or due to raw material shortages during World War I.
