Moderately preserved Karabiner 98 by Mauser from the year 1937.Normal signs of use, stronger signs of aging, barrel bright, not matching numbers (bolt differing), shooting performance very good.Valid BRD proof.Caliber 8x57 ISThis weapon is a German service weapon that was produced in 1937. The manufacturer code S/42 stands for Mauser Oberndorf and comes from the time of covert rearmament. The Allies were to be led to believe with the "S" that it was a Simson product, as Simson was the only company allowed to produce war weapons during the Weimar period.The present weapon was, like most of the remaining "S/42 1937", exported to Portugal; it has never been in the hands of a Wehrmacht soldier. It survived, like many others, the time in the sunny south before these weapons were massively re-imported to Germany in the 1970s.This is evident from the Portuguese ownership stamp on the stock, the serial number area, and also the importer stamp.
