Between 1914 and 1919, Argentina received 2,151 of these weapons. This is one of those that have all original parts produced in the USA. In 1923, Argentina passed a gun law that was introduced in 1927 to reduce dependence on foreign weapons; the Argentine Commission for Foreign Acquisitions negotiated another contract with Colt for the delivery of 10,000 pieces (delivered from 1927 to 1933) and the approval for licensed production of the 1911A1.
