The arms dealer WH e.K. offers:Lefaucheux pinfire revolver 1865, 12 shots, cal. 9 mm Lefaucheux, super rareThe British Bull Dog (compact like a bulldog, and its short barrel produced a loud "bark") with a solid frame was a popular type of pocket revolver, introduced in 1872 by Philip Webley & Son from Birmingham and subsequently copied by arms manufacturers in continental Europe and the United States. The design of the British Bull Dog revolver had existed since 1868, but Henry Webley registered the trademark in 1878. From then until today, the term refers to any short-barreled double-action revolver with a swinging ejector and short grip. A version made by Webley but completed by the Belfast gunsmith Joseph Braddell, known as the Ulster Bull Dog, had a longer grip frame than the standard, making the revolver easier to control and shoot. Numerous copies and variants of this design (authorized and unauthorized) were produced in the late 19th century in Belfast, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Pakistan, France, and the United States. Due to their small size, the British Bulldog was very popular among police officers and plainclothes detectives throughout the British Empire. Although production ceased in 1914, the weapon remained popular until the end of World War II. Perhaps the most famous is the Belgian variant of the weapon, with which U.S. President Garfield was shot in the early 1880s.The British Bulldog is an extremely sought-after collector's item! This British Bulldog revolver was manufactured approximately between 1872 and 1890.
