The arms dealer WH e.K. offers:Nagant M1883 revolver, artillery school weapon The “Fabrique d'armes Emile et Léon Nagant” was located in Liège, Belgium – the then world center for the development and production of firearms. Nagant started with various Remington mechanisms in all shapes and forms, but the first “real” Nagant revolver was already launched in 1878. In 1883, the Norwegian army ordered an unknown quantity of a 9mm version as an officer's revolver. Weapons do not always follow the path of development; sometimes this is the path of degradation. In the revolver model M1878, the firing mechanism was a double-action mechanism. Despite the relatively low costs offered by the Nagant brothers, the highest military ranks believed that the weapons were too good to arm all of them. The designers were asked to abandon the double-action firing mechanism and develop a cheaper single-action revolver. Thus, there was a revolver under the designation M1883. Gunsmiths significantly simplified the trigger mechanism of the weapon and made it a single action. Externally, the revolver could only be distinguished by the cylinder, whose surface was smooth. In general, the characteristics of the weapon did not change. Although the trigger mechanism lost its individual elements due to the heavier cylinder of the revolver, the mass of the weapon remained unchanged at 1.1 kilograms. The length of the revolver corresponded to the same 27 centimeters with a 14cm barrel. Nevertheless, 9.4x22mm was used as the cartridge.Manufacturer: Fabrique d'armes Émile et Léon Nagant, Liège BelgiumCaliber: 9mm Nagant (9.4x22mm, .440 Belgian Nagant)Barrel length: 5.5"Cylinder capacity: 6 cartridgescheaper single-action variantA squared: Regimental insignia of the artillery school, it is a personal weapon of the artillery of this school.Finish: blued, obviously refurbished (grinding marks)Grip: walnut wood4-digit SN, as far as visible matching numbersvalid proof, Belgianoriginal proof marks present (ELG)used condition with noticeable tracesno lanyard loopno foreign stampsThis item is an antique!* Take the opportunity to view in the store.
