The Sauer SL5 was introduced in 2017 and is the first and currently only semi-automatic shotgun from SAUER & SOHN. Instinctively fast, highly reliable, and timelessly elegant were the core points that were to be implemented.The matte black coating is designed to reliably prevent reflections, which is essential for crow hunting. In accordance with Sauer's guiding principle "Rifles for Generations," the trigger and all systemic parts are made of metal, making the SL5 an extremely robust semi-automatic shotgun.The grain on the walnut stock was applied using a laser. It looks elegant and also acts as a natural camouflage.The ergonomically designed and steep pistol grip also features a generous and sharply cut checkering.The laser line grain continues naturally on the fore-end, which also has a large checkered area.A pistol grip cap has been omitted, and instead, the Sauer logo is deeply engraved into the stock wood.The trigger and all systemic parts are made of metal. The safety button is located on the side of the trigger guard.The heart of the SL 5 is the inertia lock, which also features a nickel-plated bolt carrier. Sauer advertises the SL5 with the highest reliability and extremely high ammunition compatibility, which we can also confirm from practice.In the lower loading window, there is also a loading spoon made of metal. The loading spoon is extremely smooth and without edges, allowing for quick loading or reloading.The tubular magazine holds four cartridges in caliber 12/70 and three cartridges in caliber 12/76. The barrel rib is ventilated, and the barrel surface is matte blued.An LPA illuminated front sight ensures quick target acquisition.In total, there are 5 choke inserts included to optimally adapt the weapon to the hunting challenge.
