Description

The arms dealer WH e.K. offers:Smith & Wesson Model 39 (Series 1), 9 mm Para, still -CTG- stamped, 1911, sport pistol -collector's item-Weapon of the Marine units in Vietnam and the Illinois State PoliceThe Smith & Wesson Model 39 was developed in the United States after World War II as a response to the German Walther P38. The military leadership was looking for an equivalent to the P38 and commissioned Smith & Wesson in 1949 to develop the first American double-action pistol. The strong 9×19 Parabellum caliber was to be used as ammunition. The Model 39 was introduced to the market in 1955. Shortly thereafter, the Model 39-2 was released with some improvements, including a shorter case extractor. The weapon never gained widespread popularity in the United States, as the 9 mm caliber was not yet popular. Thus, this weapon was used by some Marine units in Vietnam, and the first agency to use this caliber was the Illinois State Police in 1968. The Smith & Wesson Model 39-2 is a recoil-operated pistol with a short-recoil barrel. The frame is made of aluminum, and the slide is made of steel. The decorative grips are made of walnut and are each adorned with a Smith & Wesson medallion. At the junction of the trigger guard and the frame is the button for the magazine release. The magazine is heavily inspired by that of the P38, with Smith & Wesson engineers only adding a small cutout on the right side for the magazine release. Directly above the trigger is the slide stop lever, which locks the slide in the rear position once the last round has been fired. The sight is adjustable for windage but not for elevation. Below the sight is the safety lever, which secures the weapon in the down position and makes it ready to fire when flipped up. The barrel measures 4 inches and has the old "9MM CTG" marking on top of the chamber. The -CTG- was dropped after the Model 39-2, and these were simply marked -9MM-.Manufacturer: Smith & Wesson, 1852 Proffitt Springs Road, Maryville, TN 37801Importer: Waimex Jagd-Und Sportwaffen GmbH, Benno-Strauss Str. 41, 90763 Fürth ([email protected])Number matchingVersion with the highest level of expansion of Series 14" barrel with CTG stampedUsed, for example, by Marine units in Vietnam and the Illinois State PoliceWalnut wood gripsGrips adorned with a Smith & Wesson medallionCaliber: 9x19 mm (Luger, Para)valid prooforiginal proof marks presentgood condition, fired but not worn out* Take the opportunity to view in the store.
