This firearm was originally manufactured in 1900 as a long m/96 infantry rifle at Carl Gustafs and was properly converted to the more compact m/38 carbine as part of the Swedish modernization.Due to the shorter barrel (approx. 61 cm), the rifle is significantly more manageable than the long m/96. The model is popular among sport shooters (e.g. for ordnance disciplines), hunters, and collectors alike because of its legendary inherent accuracy and pleasant recoil behaviour in caliber 6.5x55 SE.Condition & Details:Action & Finish: The receiver shows the original, clean, and deeply stamped royal crown, the year 1900, and the serial number 65842. The bluing is well preserved with only minimal, age-appropriate wear. The bare bolt operates butter-smooth, typical for Mauser.Bolt: Original, correct, downward-curved bolt handle according to m/38 specification.Stock: Healthy wooden stock with a nice, dark colour and light, authentic handling marks. The original Swedish brass barrel disc is inset on the right side of the buttstock.Sights: Original sights with the correct m/38 scale for the shortened barrel length.General: The rifle is in an unmodified, honest, and visually very appealing condition.
