The Berger VLD hunting rifle bullet is one of the flattest hunting rifle bullets in the industry. VLD hunting rifle bullets are identical in design to the VLD Target rifle bullets except they use a thinner J4 Precision jacket for rapid expansion during game applications. VLD Hunting bullets are designed to penetrate 2-3” into vital organs and then begin to expand, creating a massive wound cavity up to 15”. This provides maximum damage to organs/tissues and extreme hydrostatic shock that helps with ethical kills. Berger VLD hunting rifle bullets incorporate a secant ogive design that allows the rifle bullet to experience less drag while travelling toward the target. This reduced drag is why the VLD shoots flatter, experiences less wind drift, and has a higher retained velocity than all others. A preferred loading technique for VLDs is to touch the rifling for single-shot applications, although some rifles may prefer up to .150″ off the rifling.
