More information

Fenix keeps surprising us this week with their incredible releases and today we’ll talk about another one. Believe it or not, it’s not the last, but it’s still super exciting because it’s an extremely powerful spotlight. Let’s dive into the features.

12,000 lumen spotlight

How many times do you think we can say 12,000 lumens before it stops sounding impressive? I don’t think it’s possible. This is a beast of a torch. With any extremely powerful torch, you can expect a bigger form factor. Yet, surprisingly, the torch isn’t as big as it could be. It’s less than six and a half inches long with a head diameter under three and a half inches. The body diameter is also under two and a half inches, so even though it’s a bigger torch, we’re still very impressed that it’s compact enough for the amount of power it offers.

The LR50R features a nice wide beam but still has a hotspot that gives you the best of both worlds when it comes to beam patterns. The LR50R offers an impressive maximum beam distance of 950 meters, perfect for a spotlight.

The LR50R is similar to the Fenix LR40R but one of the main differences is the LED setup. The LR50R has four LEDs hidden in their own small reflectors that give it a balanced beam with a wide angle and a hotspot. The LR40R, on the other hand, has 19 LEDs, one in the center and the other 18 surrounding the edge. So this is one of the main differences between these two searchlights that
we want to highlight.

Multiple modes = versatile function

Fenix designed the LR50R to be a multifunctional spotlight, meaning it’s built for versatile situations. Its operation is simple with its dual-side switches and all it takes is a single click of the function switch to get a momentary turbo, meaning turbo is always within reach.

The LR50R also has two modes: a general mode and a functional mode. The functional mode is more for emergency situations and especially when you need to use the turbo output more than anything else. In functional mode, you will only be able to access the 12,000-lumen turbo, strobe, and SOS.

General mode is exactly as it sounds where it’s more for general use. In this mode, you can access six total brightness levels ranging from 50 lumens to 12,000 lumens. Switching modes is easy and having both modes makes this flashlight work for you regardless of the circumstances. With the LR50R you can choose which mode is best depending on your situation.

Rechargeable Fenix flashlight

The LR50R uses four 21700 lithium-ion batteries. That’s a huge number of batteries, but the good news is this spotlight is rechargeable. It has a USB Type-C charging port that allows for fast 4A charging. Fenix boasts that the LR50R can fully charge in 4 hours. Charging 4 batteries in 4 hours is pretty impressive, especially considering these are 21700 batteries that have more power. Also, in an emergency, the LR50R can operate with one or three 21700 batteries.

Another really cool feature of this light is that it can be used as a power bank. So if you need to charge a USB device, you can use your LR50R to give it that little extra power it needs. In an emergency situation, the power bank is really handy.

And here’s another interesting aspect of the LR50R we want to highlight: the battery indicator. The indicator consists of four lights located just above the switches. Based on the number of LEDs lit, you can know how much battery charge you have left in this light. When it comes to a spotlight, an accurate battery level indicator is a must. Fenix created an accurate and reliable indicator to determine battery status so you can always know and plan your flashlight use.

The LR50R is a rugged Fenix flashlight with some important features. When it comes to spotlights, the LR50R is impressive as it comes with the high power of 12,000 lumens, momentary turbo, and multiple modes. Not to mention that Fenix went above and beyond by giving it a USB-C charging port and a power bank function. Be sure to check out the Fenix LR50R spotlight.
