Description

REDDING 69100 · Small Decapping Die
Remove spent primers before further case processing
The universal decapping die deliberately separates decapping from sizing. It is designed for cases from .22 to .50 caliber up to a maximum length of 2.5 inches or 63.5 mm. The primer pocket and case length are the decisive purchase limits.
Only for spent primers

Black-Raptor classification: Useful for a controlled workflow where cases are decapped before cleaning or sizing. "Up to .50" does not automatically mean every .50 case: the maximum case length remains strictly limited.
Does it fit your process?

Fits well if …
You want to remove spent primers before cleaning and sizing.
The case is between .22 and .50 caliber and no longer than 63.5 mm.
A pure decapping function without sizing is desired.
A suitable case holder for the specific case is available.

Fits less well if …
Cases are longer than 2.5 inches.
.17, .20 or small primer pockets around .060 inch are to be processed without the optional rod 69250.
Decapping and sizing must take place in a single stroke.
Sharp primers are to be removed.

Practical effect

Separate work step The case remains unsized. This allows decapping, cleaning, inspecting, and sizing to be consciously arranged in a traceable sequence.

Wide caliber range Within the specified diameter and length limits, the die is not tied to a single cartridge. The caliber-specific case holder bl

Resistance as a Warning Signal Unusually high resistance does not mean more lever force. Centering, flash hole size, pin, and case must be checked first.

Optional Small Caliber Rod The separately available Redding ejector rod 69250 is intended for .17/.20 and small .060-inch flash holes.

Limits and Avoiding Bad Purchases

Check caliber and length separately: A case can fall within the diameter range but still be unsuitable due to its length. .50 BMG clearly exceeds the 63.5 mm limit.
The 69100 does not size. Those expecting a combined operation or working with very long cases need a different solution. This application is explicitly not intended for live primers.

Setup and Safe Operation

Basic Position
Insert the matching case holder and raise the press ram.
Screw the die in until it lightly contacts the case holder.
Secure the lock ring.
Before full stroke, check alignment of pin and flash hole.

Safety Check Wear safety glasses, only eject spent primers, and firmly secure the press. Adjust the rod only as deep as needed to safely eject the primer. Stop immediately if resistance occurs and check the cause.
