Repeatable case length – with micrometer instead of adjusting by feel
The Ultimate Stainless Case Trimmer combines the L.E.-Wilson stainless steel trimmer with Sinclair micrometer head, mounting stand, and shark-fin clamp. The system aligns case, holder, and cutting tool flush and allows length adjustment in 0.001″ increments.

Fits well if …
you want to process batches of cases with reproducible target length, read settings directly on the micrometer, and select the matching L.E.-Wilson case holder separately for your caliber.


Less suitable if …
you expect a ready-to-use complete set for any caliber right away. Case holders and other accessories are explicitly not included.

The precision principle
In the L.E.-Wilson system, the case does not sit on a universal pilot or in a collet. A cartridge-specific case holder guides it on the body taper and aligns flush with the cutter housing and micrometer stop. This keeps the case square to the cutter during trimming.
The Sinclair micrometer head shows the actual case length, can be locked after setting, and offers an adjustment range of more than 2″. This is especially interesting if a defined trim length is to be reproducibly maintained over a whole batch or later specifically readjusted.

The most important purchase note
Without the matching L.E.-Wilson trimmer case holder, the system is not ready for use with your cartridge. The holders are sold separately and must fit exactly the case family. For cases under 1.3″ length – including many pistol cases – Sinclair additionally requires the spacer with Brownells no. 749-002-094.

Correctly classify compatibility


Manufacturer range
Sinclair specifies a working range from .22 Hornet to .416 Rigby. This describes the basic capacity of the trimmer, not the automatic suitability without the matching case holder.

For each cartridge to be processed or compatible case family, the appropriate L.E.-Wilson trimmer holder is required. Before ordering, check holder designation and case specification.

Short cases
For case lengths under 1.3″, the separate spacer 749-002-094 is needed. Without it, the advertised use of short cases is not fully possible.

No pilot/collet logic
The Wilson concept works without a pilot and collet. Accessories from other trimmer systems are therefore not automatically compatible.

What the Shark-Fin stand brings to the process
The supplied mounting stand creates a stable working base. The Shark-Fin clamp moves in a swivel arm motion and presses the case head of the inserted holder against the micrometer head. This makes insertion and removal easier and is intended to support a fast, precise cut without chatter.

Trainer tip: Reference case instead of memory value
Create a cleanly measured reference case and a setup sheet for each case family. After changing the case holder, first confirm the target value with calipers or a suitable length measuring device, trim a small test series, and only then process the batch. The 0.001″ scale does not replace the final check.

Safe workflow

- Determine permissible trim length from reliable load data or case specification.
- Select the appropriate L.E.-Wilson case holder; for cases under 1.3″, insert the required spacer.
- Set up trimmer and stand firmly, cleanly, and without damage; wear safety glasses.
- Fully insert the case into the holder and guide it cleanly to the micrometer stop with the Shark-Fin clamp.
- Set and lock the micrometer to the desired actual case length.
- Cut with even feed, without force or tilting.
- Measure the first cases; then regularly perform spot checks.
- After trimming, properly deburr the inside and outside edges and check the case again.

Purchase and usage limits

- No case holder included: This must be purchased separately and be cartridge-specific.
- No universal holder: The range from .22 Hornet to .416 Rigby requires suitable Wilson accessories for each.
- Spacer for short cases: Under 1.3″, 749-002-094 is additionally required.
- Not a complete case processing system: Deburrers, measuring tools, and further steps are not automatically included.
- Do not guess trim length: Too short cases cannot be lengthened again; always work according to reliable specifications.
- Shipping weight is not net weight: The Brownells figure of 1.111 kg describes the shipment and is not given as product weight.

Is the trimmer ready to use for my caliber right out of the box? Only if you already own the matching L.E.-Wilson trimmer case holder. This is not included and must fit the specific case.
Which cases can the system process? The basic range according to Sinclair is from .22 Ho
rnet up to .416 Rigby. The crucial parts remain the matching case holder and, for cases under 1.3″, the additional spacer.
Is the spacer 749-002-094 included? No. It is separate accessory and needed for cases shorter than 1.3″.
How fine is the length adjustment? The micrometer head is adjustable in 0.001″ increments, offers over 2″ of adjustment range, and can be locked after setting.
