The two-part pin set separates the secure positioning from the final driving in of the roll pin and creates access with flattened sides on the AR-15 lower.

Weapon fully unloaded, magazine removed and ammunition separated from the workspace. Support the lower stably and surface-friendly, wear safety glasses and assign all parts according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Start the roll pin with small, controlled strikes. Check alignment before switching to the finishing pin. Do not strike harder if resistance occurs; instead, check the hole, parts and pin; then test function according to manufacturer specifications.

Does the set fit every AR-15 lower? No. It is intended for lowers with classic bolt catch roll pin. Screwed and proprietary solutions do not require it. Why are two pins included?
