When a folding stock rifle becomes shorter in transport condition but significantly wider at the hinge, standard bags often fail not because of length but because of shape. Then the folded stock presses against the zipper and optics or the system lies loose in a too straight contour. AIM builds the FSX-42 exactly for this left-folding geometry.
It is the mirror image variant of the FS-42 and intended for systems whose stock folds to the left away from the bolt. Up to 103 cm folded total length, it works very cleanly as a specialized drag bag; for the opposite direction, for significantly longer systems, or for complete waterproofing without an additional cover, it is not the honest choice.
What the FSX-42 specifically does better
The crucial difference is not on the outside but in the deep, flared stock mount. It follows the wider contour of a stock folded to the left, can be adjusted, and is supported by an additional reinforcement under the stock area. This way, the folded shoulder rest not only hangs on straps but fits more form-locking in the bag.
Added to this are four freely positionable weapon straps, two outer compression straps in the lower area, and the three-sided opening main zipper with padded inner edge. In everyday use, this means: The system can be inserted more controlled, hinge and optics have to work less against an unsuitable inner shape, and the bag closes cleaner around the folded weapon.

For rifles folding to the right toward the bolt, the AIM FS-42 is the correct counterpart. For 100% waterproof weather protection, AIM additionally recommends a separate small rain cover.

Safety note: The magnetic chest strap can, according to AIM, affect pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators, and other implanted medical devices. With an implanted device, this bag is not a suitable choice.

The strongest reason to buy is not just the 42 length but the mirror-image fitting inner geometry for a left-folding stock. Those transporting exactly this contour get more control than with a normal straight rifle bag of the same class.
The most common misconception is to derive a universal fit automatically from 103 cm. Length alone is not enough here. If the stock folds in the opposite direction or the widest point on the folded system is under tension, the bag is technically the wrong choice, even if the tape measure initially reassures.

Wenn du zuerst barrel oder Vorderschaft festzurrst, ziehst du die Waffe schnell schräg in die Tasche und hältst eine Fehlbedienung fälschlich für ein Passformproblem.

Die 103 cm komplett messen: Miss nicht nur Systemkasten bis Schaftende, sondern das gefaltete Gesamtpaket mit montierter Optik, fester Mündungsbremse oder Dämpferadapter und vorstehendem Kammergriff. Die Länge muss in der realen Transportkonfiguration passen.

Kompressionsgurte nur stabilisieren: Die äußeren Gurte sollen Spiel aus der Tasche nehmen, nicht den gefalteten Schaft mit Gewalt gegen Scharnier, Optik oder Kammergriff pressen. Wenn du stark nachziehen musst, stimmt die Innengeometrie für dein Setup nicht.
