T.A.B. Gear · padded pad · 1000D Cordura
More pressure distribution on your existing sling – without replacing the whole carrying system
The T.A.B. Gear shoulder pad is an add-on padding for existing webbing and rifle slings. With 3 inches width, 14 inches length, and closed-cell foam, it distributes point loads more broadly on the shoulder.
Important before buying: The pad does not replace a sling. It must wrap cleanly around your existing webbing with its four 1-inch attachment straps, without blocking adjusters or stop areas.
Check fit before purchase
Our honest assessment
The product solves a simple, often underestimated problem: flat webbing can dig in uncomfortably under load. Instead of replacing a working sling completely, this pad specifically increases the contact area.
The advantage is free positioning. The four 1-inch straps hold the pad on the existing webbing and can also guide cables or hydration tubes. The limit is clear: if the base sling is too narrow, damaged, or wrongly adjusted, extra padding won’t fix the actual problem.

The strap basically fits, but with longer wear it presses in spots.
… you want to position the pad freely on the loaded shoulder area.
… you want to neatly guide cables or drinking tubes along the carrying system.
Fits less well if …
… you expect a complete strap – only the shoulder pad is delivered.
… adjusters, buckles, or attachment points are exactly where the 14-inch pad would have to lie.
… you want to compensate for missing stability or a wrong strap length solely by adding more padding.
What the features practically do
3-inch wide surface
More area distributes the load better than a narrow strap. This is especially comfortable when existing webbing presses pointwise on the shoulder or clothing under weight.
14-inch length
The pad covers a long shoulder area. That’s why you should check in advance whether quick adjusters, buckles, or transitions remain outside the padded zone.
1000D Cordura + closed-cell foam
The textile outer shell is designed for robust use; the closed-cell foam does not absorb water as easily as open-cell padding and ensures the actual pressure distribution.
Four 1-inch attachment straps
They fix the pad to the existing webbing. At the same time, they can be used for neat routing of radio cables or drinking tubes, as long as these are not kinked or stressed by it.
Typical bad purchases, disadvantages, and limits
Not a complete rifle sling: The pad complements an existing carrying system.
More padding is not automatically better ergonomics: If the pad sits too far forward or backward, it can block adjusters or interfere with the cheek weld.
No universal width clearance: The four 1-inch attachment straps wrap around existing webbing; the actual combination should sit tension-free before use and not twist sideways.
No load rating can be derived: The padding improves the surface contact but does not automatically increase the allowable load of the existing strap or its attachment points.
Assembly, use, and care
Set position first
Adjust the strap to your actual carrying position and only then place the pad on the loaded shoulder area. This keeps the adjustment range usable.
Close all four attachments cleanly
Lay all four straps evenly around the existing webbing. The pad should lie flat and not twist under load.
Guide cables and tubes without kinks
If the straps are used for routing, leave enough slack for movement. Do not clamp any line so tightly that it can be damaged under tension.
Dry open after getting wet
Brush off coarse dirt, let wet textile areas dry open, and keep Velcro surfaces free of sand and fibers. Manufacturer care instructions take precedence.
Variant selection
The shop offers Black, Coyote Brown, Multicam, and Highlander. The color choice does not change the function; dimensions, material construction, and attachment principle remain the same.
Technical data with practical interpretation
Dimensions 3 × 14 inches, approximately 7.6 × 35.6 cm. Especially the 14-inch length determines how much free strap area must be available.
Outer material 1000 Denier Cordura with Mil-Spec webbing. Designed for robust textile carrying systems.
Padding Closed-cell foam. Distributes pressure and is more practical for changing weather than open-cell foams.
Attachment Four 1-inch straps with Velcro for fixing to existing webbing.
Use Retrofit shoulder pad for web gear and, according to the manufacturer, also well suited for rifle slings.

Black Raptor · Comfort without system change
The T.A.B. Gear shoulder pad makes sense if your strap works but the pressure under load becomes uncomfortable. 3 × 14 inches, 1000D Cordura, closed-cell foam, and four fastening straps make it a clear retrofit solution instead of an unnecessary complete conversion.
