Strong 44.4-MOA elevation for older AI prisms The SA-4801 is a specialized direct mount for older Accuracy International systems with 11-mm prism mount. It combines 34-mm rings, 35 mm axis height, and 13 MIL / 44.4 MOA elevation.
The crucial point: a lot of elevation is not a blanket upgrade. The desired zero must remain reachable within the scope’s adjustment range despite the 13 MIL.

Our honest assessment

This mount belongs on a calculated Long-Range/ELR system. It shifts the existing elevation adjustment range toward longer distances but does not create additional mechanical adjustment range. Anyone who doesn’t calculate the zero cleanly against the scope reserve can limit themselves with too much elevation.
The direct mount saves an additional Picatinny layer but only fits the intended older AI prism geometry.



Fits well if … … an older Accuracy International system with matching 11-mm prism mount is used.
… a 34-mm scope can mathematically handle the 13 MIL elevation and the long range really needs this reserve.


Fits less well if … … Picatinny/STANAG is present on the firearm, less elevation is sufficient, or a close zero is critical.
… the scope is a Nightforce BEAST or has extended TPAL/EREK geometry.


Features and practical effect


13 MIL / 44.4 MOA strong elevation for large elevation corrections. It shifts the usable range but does not enlarge it.


AI direct mount
Directly based on the older 11-mm prism geometry from Accuracy International – no Picatinny clamp.


34-mm rings Fixed ring positions require sufficiently long straight clamping zones and a free turret block.


35 mm axis height The height is measured at the rear ring plane; objective clearance must be checked over the entire inclined setup.


Recoil stop Adjustable for the intended counterpart. It does not replace a suitable base geometry.


Integrated bubble level Especially useful for large distance corrections to check for canting.


Limits, disadvantages, and typical bad purchases

The classic bad purchase: choosing 44.4 MOA “just in case.” If 6 MIL is already enough, the SA-4601 is often more balanced because it leaves more counter-adjustment for the close zero point.
The fixed ring geometry can collide with wide or downward-extended turret housings. Nightforce BEAST and US Optics TPAL/EREK are explicitly excluded in the existing manufacturer data. Another 11-mm dovetail mount is not automatically compatible either.

Scope of delivery
Spuhr SA-4801 direct mount with adjustable recoil stop, 10-degree wedge / leveling key, and manufacturer’s manual. Scope, weapon, mounting tools, and separate interface carriers are not included.
Safe and clean setup


Calculate zero point backwards Check total adjustment range, base tilt, and desired zero distance first. Only then decide if 13 MIL really creates reserve instead of a problem.


Do not force recoil stop The mount must sit flat and without lateral tilting before tightening. The stop absorbs longitudinal forces but does not correct incorrect prism geometry.


FAQ
Does the SA-4801 fit on Picatinny? No. It is a direct mount for the older AI prism mount. Are 44.4 MOA sensible for every long-range setup? No. The zero point and the optic’s counter-adjustment range must remain safely reachable despite the strong tilt. Which optics are problematic? Nightforce BEAST and US Optics TPAL/EREK are excluded according to existing manufacturer data; with other optics, turret block and ring zones must be checked. Does 13 MIL increase precision? No. The mount only shifts the usable elevation adjustment range of the optic.
