SP-4902C – high 9-MIL long-range mount For 34 mm scopes when 38 mm rail height and 9 MIL / 30 MOA additional elevation have been deliberately factored into the overall system.
The key buying point: 9 MIL is a lot of angle. What matters is not the number, but whether rail, optic, and zero stop can really handle it.

Our honest assessment

The SP-4902C sits at the upper end of what Spuhr itself classifies as a typical long-range range. This can make sense if a lot of elevation travel is to be made usable for long distances – but only if the close zero point remains reachable.
The high 38 mm line provides more clearance for front attachments than lower variants, but also changes the head position.



Fits well if … … 34 mm main tube, 38 mm rail height, and 9 MIL demonstrably fit the system.
… the weapon rail is neutral or only moderately inclined.
… the optic has sufficient counter-adjustment travel.


Fits rather not if … … 6 MIL already covers the distance range.
… the close zero point is barely reachable.
… QD, cantilever, or a lower head position is needed.

9 MIL / 30 MOA Shift the usable elevation travel without increasing the optic’s total mechanical travel.


38 mm rail height More space for large objectives and front attachments, but only useful with a matching cheek rest.

Limits, disadvantages and avoiding bad purchases

Add total inclination: 3-MIL rail plus 9 MIL equals 12 MIL, 6-MIL rail plus 9 MIL equals 15 MIL.
Front clearance decreases forward: with inclined mounting, the axis in front of the rear ring is lower than the nominal 38 mm.
9 MIL only with offset: if 6 MIL is enough, less inclination is usually the more robust choice.

Safe use
Document rail angle and real counter-adjustment range before mounting. After installation, check that the desired zero point can be reached without stop and that the objective, cap and accessories run mechanically free along the inclined axis.
FAQ
Does 9 MIL increase the elevation adjustment range? No. They only shift the position within the existing adjustment range. When is 6 MIL more sensible? When the planned distance range is already covered by it or more reserve for the close zero point is needed. Does every 56 mm objective fit? No. The decisive factor is the real outer diameter including cap and its position in front of the rear ring. Is the mounting QD? No. The SP-4902C is a fixed screw mount.
