Real Avid AR-15 LUG-LOK Upper Vise Block
A torque-oriented holding device for compatible, barreled AR-15 uppers. The Lug-Lok positively engages the locking lugs of the barrel extension and shifts the force path away from the aluminum receiver housing. This version is not intended for AR10/AR308, stripped upper or lower.



Fits well if

Why the force path is crucial


Star-Chamber Engagement The precision-machined tip engages the locking lugs of the barrel extension. This is exactly where the torque load is supported.


7075-T6 Aluminum The tool body is designed for repeated workshop use; the fit must still be without force.


Lock Knob The upper receiver lock knob is inserted through the ejection port and limits axial movement once the geometry is properly aligned.


Vise Pins Two stainless steel pins secure the stock in the vise and allow multiple working positions.


Avoid limits & bad purchases

Without barrel extension, no proper positive lock. A stripped upper therefore cannot correctly accept the tool.
“AR-15” alone does not replace the fit test. Proprietary or damaged Star-Chamber geometries must not be forced onto the Lug-Lok with vise force.

Practical interpretation

Fit test before vise: First slide the upper by hand onto the Lug-Lok, which is not yet clamped. The locking lugs must engage cleanly.

Plan working angle: Rotate the upper so that barrel nut wrench and torque m
ntschlüssel frei arbeiten können, bevor Lock Knob und Schraubstock final gesetzt werden.

Torque remains a component matter: The holder defines the force path, not the target value.

For defined nut geometries, the MASTER-FIT AR-15 Crowfoot set complements the holder. For pin work, an AR15 Master assembly block is the more suitable tool class.

Does the Lug-Lok fit AR10/AR308? No. This version is for AR-15. Can a stripped upper be used without a barrel? No. The positive lock requires the locking lugs of the barrel extension. Is a torque wrench included? No. What does the Lock Knob do? It limits axial movement of the correctly seated upper.
