A forend doesn’t just determine hand position. It defines which front interfaces on the KRG setup can still be sensibly planned – and whether barrel contour, chassis, and accessories fit together. This is exactly where typical bad purchases happen: A Tikka name on the system isn’t enough if magazine logic and inlet don’t mean the same configuration.
The Enclosed Forend replaces the existing forend of a suitable KRG Whiskey-3, X-Ray, or BRAVO chassis. It brings the slim, barrel-surrounding front profile as well as KRG hole pattern and M-LOK-compatible rectangular openings. The crucial limit is strict: KRG explicitly excludes spigot mounting for this forend.

Before buying: first inlet, then accessories
This offer bundles two technically separate forends. The Black/Tikka selection belongs to the KRG inlet for the Tikka T3 Short Action with AICS magazine. The Black/Howa selection belongs to the Howa 1500 Short Action inlet. Both variants share the product family, but neither action footprint nor magazine and mounting counterpart may be cross-derived from it.

The binding Tikka limit: The “Black/Tikka” selection is only intended for the Tikka T3 Short Action with AICS magazine; KRG offers a separate Tikka CTR variant for CTR magazines. A Tikka CTR with factory magazine is therefore not approved under the name “Tikka.” First determine the existing chassis inlet and magazine type, then choose the forend.

Black/Howa is a separate Howa 1500 Short Action inlet and not a Tikka alternative. So when choosing between the two, you don’t check color or photo, but exactly the chassis, action version, and the magazine logic required by the setup. The forend is not a standalone usable part; it replaces a suitable KRG front section.
What actually changes on the setup
The benefit lies in the closed front shape and the prepared attachment points. KRG names its own hole pattern as well as M-LOK-compatible rectangular openings. Accessories can only be sensibly added if their counterpart fits the specific forend and the existing chassis. An ARCA rail or bipod adapter is not an automatic consequence of the product name.
Above the barrel remains a recessed zone. KRG justifies this by saying the optic can sit closer to the barrel axis without needing a rail there. This is no promise for every optic or ring combination; it is a constructive clearance that doesn’t unnecessarily force the setup height. The optic is still set up according to eye relief, cheek weld, and barrel/optic clearance.

So bleibt der Aufbau von hinten nach vorn logisch: Eine vermeintlich praktische Frontschnittstelle hilft nicht, wenn das Tikka- oder Howa-Chassis zuvor schon falsch eingeordnet wurde.

Montagehinweise für die Tikka-Auswahl
Die KRG-Anleitung für den Tikka-Vorderschaft verlangt vor dem Einbau eine entladene Waffe sowie das Entfernen von Verschluss und Magazin. Anschließend wird der mitgelieferte T-Slot-Montageblock mit den Bohrungen nach vorn in den Kanal des Backbones geschoben; erst dann wird der Vorderschaft aufgesetzt. Diese Reihenfolge ist kein kosmetisches Detail, sondern entscheidet darüber, ob die hintere Befestigung die vorgesehene Gegenstelle erreicht.

Praxis-Tipp: Schraubensatz nicht mischen. Für die typische Tikka-Montage zeigt KRG vorn die Senkkopfschrauben M4 x 20 mm und am Montageblock die Senkkopfschrauben M4 x 12 mm. Als Alternative nennt KRG vorn weiterhin M4 x 20 mm und hinten die Linsenkopfschrauben M5 x 20 mm. Arbeite ausschließlich nach einem der dargestellten Wege; improvisierte Schraubenlängen gehören nicht in den Backbone.


Praxis-Tipp: Zubehör erst nach der Grundpassung planen. Ist der Vorderschaft montiert, kontrollierst du zuerst freien Laufverlauf, Zugang zu Verschluss und Magazin sowie den sicheren Sitz. Erst danach entscheidet die tatsächliche Unterseite, ob eine Rail oder Klemme über den passenden KRG-Montageweg ergänzt werden kann.
