A trail camera is only as good as its power supply. If the location is right, the camera is properly aligned, and then the batteries run out after a short time, the practical use is gone. Especially with remote cameras, battery changes cost time, effort, and often exactly the quiet you want to keep in the hunting area.
The HIKMICRO Solar Panel SP5000 is an external power unit for wildlife and trail cameras. It combines a solar panel with an integrated 5000-mAh lithium-ion battery and delivers 12 V or 6 V output voltage depending on the setup. This makes it especially suitable for fixed camera locations where longer runtime is more important than minimal setup.

Key Features

Integrated 5000-mAh lithium-ion battery with 7.4 V.
Maximum solar power 5 W according to the manufacturer.
Outputs: DC 12 V / 1 A and 6 V / 1.5 A.
DC 5V / 2A input for charging the integrated battery.
IP66 protection class for dust- and weather-resistant outdoor use.
Scope of delivery includes plastic tripod, strap, screws, key, and three connection cables.

Our Assessment
The SP5000 makes sense if a trail camera is to run at the same location for a longer time. It reduces battery changes and makes power supply more predictable, especially at places with regular sunlight.
However, it is not a magic battery. Location, season, shade, camera consumption, and upload behavior also play a role. If you mount a camera deep in dense cover or use very high data transmission, you should not expect a solar panel to replace every energy reserve.

Practical Tip

Plan panel and camera separately: The camera is oriented by the image section and PIR area, the panel by light. A slightly offset mounting point with better sun exposure is often more sensible than a panel directly next to the camera in the shade.

Important Classification Before Purchase

Check the appropriate voltage, plug, and compatibility with your camera before use. Incorrect voltage supply can damage devices. Trail cameras and accessories must also be installed in a way that respects property rights and data protection.

Application Scenarios

Longer trail camera deployments at bait sites, trails, or wildlife fields.
Locations where battery changes are rare or disruptive.
4G cameras with higher energy demand due to uploads and app connection.
Temporary outdoor installations with predictable external power supply.

FAQ
Is the SP5000 only suitable for HIKMICRO cameras? It is listed as HIKMICRO accessory. The decisive factors are voltage, plug, and compatibility of the respective camera.
Does the panel completely replace batteries? Not reliably in every situation. Sun, location, camera consumption, and usage determine how much the panel relieves.
Can the internal battery be charged separately? Yes, according to the manufacturer, a DC 5V-/
2A entrance to the store available.
Is the panel weatherproof? The SP5000 is rated IP66 and thus designed for dusty and rain-exposed outdoor use.
What should I watch out for during installation? The panel needs light, the camera the right field of view. Both don’t have to be exactly at the same spot.
