AICS · Short Action · .308 Family
Magpul PMAG 7.62 AC: AICS Magazine for Compatible Short-Action Systems This PMAG is designed for AICS-compatible short-action magazine wells. The variants differ in capacity with 5 or 10 rounds.
Important: “.308” alone is not enough as a purchase criterion. AICS magazine well, short-action system, and actual cartridge/feed geometry must match.

Black-Raptor Classification
The sensible use is a compatible bolt-action rifle with AICS short-action bottom metal or corresponding chassis. The 5-round body is less bulky; 10 rounds reduce interruptions at the range. If you use a long-action system or a proprietary factory magazine well, you need a different solution.

Fits well if … … your system explicitly uses AICS Short Action and you’re looking for a lightweight polymer magazine for .308 Winchester-like applications.

Fits less well if … … you have long action, AR-10/SR-25, Tikka factory magazines, or an unconfirmed proprietary magazine well.

Variant Choice and Practical Effect

5 Rounds Less protrusion and usually more comfortable when rested, hunting, or with a slim transport setup.

10 Rounds More reserve for training and repeated strings, but larger protrusion under the system.

Polymer Lightweight and resistant in normal use. Fit and feeding should still be checked with the actual ammunition used.

AICS Standard The standard is the central interface; the rifle’s brand name alone is no guarantee of fit.

Limits, Disadvantages, and Avoiding Wrong Purchases
Do not order based on “Remington 700” or “.308” alone. Many systems based on Remington 700 use different bottom metals or chassis. Check outd
rücklich AICS Short Action. The 10-round version can protrude more on a low rest or during transport than the 5-round version.

FAQ
Does the PMAG fit every .308 rifle? No. The system must have a compatible AICS Short Action magazine well. Which capacity is more practical? 5 rounds for less protrusion; 10 rounds for longer strings and fewer interruptions. Is this an AR-10 magazine? No. AICS and AR-10/SR-25 are different magazine standards.
Black Raptor · Avoid bad purchases
The right purchase starts with the magazine well, not the caliber. Once AICS Short Action is confirmed, you then choose between the compact 5-round and training-friendly 10-round version.
