Ruger 10/22 Takedown · Backpacker
Takedown system compactly and neatly transport
The Magpul X-22 Backpacker is a drop-in stock for the Ruger 10/22 Takedown – with transport connection for barrel and receiver assembly as well as integrated storage space.
Only for the Takedown platform

The core benefit is not just a new stock shape: After disassembly, the barrel and receiver assembly can be held compactly together. This reduces loose parts during transport. The prerequisite is explicitly a matching Ruger 10/22 Takedown; a normal fixed 10/22 system is not the same.

Purchase check: Does the task fit?
Before ordering, check the model designation and Takedown interface of the firearm. The color variants share the same basic concept, but the chosen SKU must match the desired color. Optic height, magazine format, sling solution, and local legal requirements also belong in the setup check.

Fits well For owners of a confirmed Ruger 10/22 Takedown who want to compactly couple the barrel and receiver unit and neatly store small parts on the stock.

Fits rather not For standard Ruger 10/22 without Takedown interface, other barrels/receivers with different contours, or users who want a heavy, finely adjustable precision
schassis erwarten.

Practical benefits instead of brochure promises

Transport coupling Holds the separate main assemblies together as a compact package; the connection must be securely locked before carrying.

Drop-in concept Designed for the matching takedown system. Drop-in still means: model, fit, and secure function must be checked.

Integrated storage Helps organize small gear. Check allowable contents, rattle freedom, and moisture protection in practice.

Polymer construction Weight- and transport-oriented. It does not offer the adjustment range of a full-fledged precision chassis.

Limits, disadvantages and bad purchases
Do not confuse with a standard X-22 stock or a chassis for the fixed 10/22 version. Accessory barrels, unusual receivers, optic mounts, and large magazines can affect the compact transport setup. A stock does not change the legal classification; national regulations must be observed before modification and transport.

Application, care and safety
Weapon fully unloaded, magazine removed and cartridge chamber checked. Modification and disassembly only according to Ruger and Magpul instructions. After assembly, check safety, bolt handle, magazine catch, takedown connection, and barrel/receiver fit dry. Before transport, couple both assemblies only in the intended orientation; before shooting, fully release and correctly assemble.

Frequently asked questions
Does the stock fit every Ruger 10/22? No. This product family is designed for the Ruger 10/22 Takedown. A standard 10/22 without takedown system is not equivalent. What does the Backpacker design offer? The separate barrel and receiver assemblies can be held compactly together, so fewer loose parts occur during transport. Are magazines included? No. The stock in the chosen color variant is confirmed; magazines and weapon are not included. Can I use accessory barrel and accessory receiver? Only if their manufacturers confirm the fit to the X-22 Backpacker and the takedown interface. Deviating contours can prevent mounting or transport coupling. Do I have to observe legal requirements? Yes. Modification, possession, use and transport are subject to applicable regulations. If in doubt, seek expert advice before assembly.

Black-Raptor classification The X-22 Backpacker is a targeted solution for the genuine 10/22 takedown system. Those who want to transport exactly this platform compactly get a clear benefit; for a standard 10/22 it would be the wrong stock.
