MANTIS X3 Shooting Performance System Electronic shooting trainer for handguns and long guns that records movements during the shot process and evaluates them via app. Its greatest benefit is not a "score display," but making dryfire and live-fire more measurable and repeatable.

Fits well
for regular dryfire training with objective feedback
for pistol or rifle with suitable mounting option
when movement analysis and training progress are more important than pure shot pattern
for shooters and instructors who want to evaluate technique structurally

Fits less well
if no suitable rail or adapter is available
if shotgun or bow are the focus
if a training device without smartphone/app is desired
if you expect software to replace clean basic technique

What the X3 actually brings to training

Dryfire with feedback Instead of just "feeling" whether the trigger pull was clean, you get additional movement analysis. This makes short, frequent training sessions much more comparable.

Live-fire supplement Shot pattern and movement data can be evaluated together. This is especially helpful when a bad shot cannot be explained by the target alone.

Bluetooth & app Evaluation runs via a compatible mobile device. App compatibility is therefore as relevant to purchase as the mechanical mounting on the training device.

Suitable for instruction Data can reveal technical errors and structure conversations between trainer and shooter. It does not replace observation but complements it usefully.

Limits, disadvantages & avoiding bad purchases

Important: The X3 is an analysis tool, not an autopilot. Incorrect basic technique will not be corrected by good app values alone. Also, the sensor must be mounted mechanically secure and repeatable. For firearms without a free accessory rail, an additional adapter may be required.
Compatibility & variant selection

Handguns and long guns according to stored Shopify dataset
Dryfire and live-
e-Fire according to manufacturer data in the existing dataset
Mounting via suitable accessory rail or matching adapter
Bluetooth-enabled, compatible smartphone or tablet required

Those who also want to cover shotgun, bow, or wider training areas should check within the Mantis systems whether a higher model fits better.

Safe use
For dryfire, always ensure before each session that no live ammunition is in the training area. For live-fire, all safety and range rules apply unchanged. Sensor and adapter must fit firmly and must not interfere with operation, sighting, or safe weapon handling.
FAQ
Does the X3 work without ammunition? Yes. Especially in dryfire, it offers significant benefits because many repetitions with analysis are possible. Does the sensor fit every pistol? Not automatically. A suitable mounting option or adapter is required. Can I use the X3 at the shooting range? The existing Shopify dataset includes live-fire use. Prerequisites remain secure mounting and the respective range rules. Does the X3 replace a trainer? No. It provides additional data. Technique, safety, and sensible exercise selection remain training tasks.
Black-Raptor classification: The X3 is especially strong for shooters who train dryfire regularly and want to track progress, not just feel it. Its benefit increases with a clear training routine – not with as many app sessions as possible without a goal.
