For compact setups
The CCW concept keeps the outer contour smaller than XL and ST. This is especially relevant when the optic should not unnecessarily protrude beyond a narrow slide.


Shield RMSc
The interface is the central compatibility filter. Optics Ready does not automatically mean RMSc.


3 MOA Green
Fine dot with approx. 2.2 cm angular coverage at 25 m and approx. 4.4 cm at 50 m.


Open emitter
Light and compact, but less shielded against dirt and precipitation than an enclosed model.

CCW vs. XL: not just "small vs. large"
The smaller housing reduces weight and overhang but offers less window reserve. Those using a compact platform often benefit more from a proportionally fitting optic than from maximum window size. Conversely, on a larger sport platform, an XL model can be more comfortable.

Practical tip
A smaller window makes a reproducible presentation more visible: If the dot often starts outside the field of view, first check grip angle, head position, and presentation path. Brightness does not fix a geometric presentation error.

Compatibility without risky shortcuts
Proper mounting depends on more than just the firearm model. Relevant are the RMSc interface or adapter plate, screw thread, screw length, recoil lugs, plate thickness, and available holster clearance. That’s why we deliberately don’t provide a blanket “fits all model series” list as a purchase guarantee.

Important
Screws that are too long or incorrect can cause technically unsuitable mounting. Use the manufacturer’s documentation for your specific platform or adapter plate.

Green or Red?
Green can subjectively stand out very quickly, especially if your eye and background match. Red can feel calmer or more familiar to other users. What matters is not the marketing color but whether you perceive the dot quickly and clearly under typical lighting conditions.

What does Shield RMSc mean? RMSc refers to the mechanical footprint geometry. A pistol must support this interface directly or via a suitable adapter plate. How much does 3 MOA cover? About 2.2 cm at 25 m, 4.4 cm at 50 m, and 8.7 cm at 100 m. Is the Defender CCW Green Dot enclosed? No. The emitter is open. Those who prioritize maximum protection against precipitation and debris should compare an enclosed system. Does the optic have to be removed to change the battery? No. The battery is accessible from above. Regular point-of-impact checks are still advisable. Is green automatically better than red?
