Vortex · Defender ST · 3 MOA
Defender ST 3 MOA: larger window and fine dot for versatile setups The ST sits between ultra-compact CCW and larger red dot solutions. The 3-MOA dot prioritizes controlled target coverage, while the DeltaPoint Pro footprint, Picatinny mount, and Glock MOS adapter open multiple mounting options.

Our honest assessment
The added value lies in the balance: about 42 g, more window reserve than the CCW, and a 3-MOA dot that covers about 2.2 cm at 25 m. It remains an open system; for permanently heavily exposed use, an enclosed model can be technically more sensible.

Fits well if … … DeltaPoint Pro fits the platform, a larger window than the CCW is desired, and 3 MOA makes sense for range, pistol, PCC, or shotgun.

Less suitable if … … RMSc/RMR are needed, maximum miniaturization counts, or a fully protected emitter is a priority.

Features and practical effect

3 MOA About 2.2 cm angular coverage at 25 m. Fine enough for controlled groups, still clearly visible at appropriate brightness.

DeltaPoint Pro footprint The footprint is the central mechanical interface. Adapters, recoil lugs, and screw length must fit precisely.

Top-load CR2032 battery change without disassembly. This reduces effort, replacemen
zt aber keine regelmäßige Funktions- und Treffpunktkontrolle.

Motion Activation Automatic activation plus shut-off after 10 minutes of no movement according to available manufacturer data.

Limits, disadvantages and avoiding bad purchases

Open emitter: less shielded against precipitation and foreign objects than an enclosed system.
DPP is not RMSc/RMR: check platform compatibility and adapter path before purchase.
Larger window costs contour: If you want to build as slim as possible, a CCW type is better suited.
Glock-MOS adapter is not a universal promise: generation, plate and screws remain relevant.

Technical data with practical interpretation

Reticle 3-MOA red dot – about 2.2 cm angular coverage at 25 m.

Click value 1 MOA per click; approx. 115 MOA height and 145 MOA windage as available adjustment reserve.

Footprint DeltaPoint Pro; suitable direct interface or adapter plate required.

Battery CR2032, top-load; up to approx. 25,000 h at medium setting as manufacturer specification.

Dimensions / Weight Approx. 46.5 mm length and around 42 g – more window reserve with still moderate mass.

Model DFST-MRD3 – 3-MOA red dot version.

Scope of delivery
Defender ST 3 MOA, CR2032 battery, Picatinny mount, Glock-MOS adapter plate, protective cover, lens cloth, tool and mounting screw sets.
Safe use
Mount according to the specifications of the involved manufacturers. Check screw length, plate fit and firm seating; confirm point of impact after mounting, transport or heavy stress.
FAQ
What footprint does the Defender ST use? DeltaPoint Pro. Depending on the platform, an adapter plate is required. How big is 3 MOA at 25 m? Approximately 2.2 cm angular coverage. Is the sight closed? No. It is an open micro red dot. Can it be used on Picatinny? Yes, a Picatinny mount is included in the scope of delivery.
Black Raptor · Balance instead of extreme
The Defender ST 3 MOA is strong when DPP, more window reserve and a fine dot are sought together. For minimal contour or maximum emitter protection, there are more consistent designs.
