Defender CCW 6 MOA: compact and quick to acquire—check the footprint first The open micro red dot is designed for lightweight, streamlined setups. The 6 MOA dot prioritizes quick acquisition; the key purchase check is still the Shield RMSc footprint.

Our honest take
At around 27 g, with a top-load battery and Motion Activation, the CCW is an appealing option for compact optics-ready setups. 6 MOA is not a precision drawback, but it does cover a larger angle than 3 MOA by design.

A good fit if … … Shield RMSc is compatible with your platform, keeping slide weight low matters, and you want a 6 MOA dot that’s quick to acquire.

Probably not a good fit if … … you need DPP/RMR, a closed emitter is a priority, or you want the finest possible target coverage at distance.

Features and practical impact

6 MOA Covers an angle of about 4.4 cm at 25 m and 8.7 cm at 50 m. Quick to acquire, but coarser than 3 MOA.

Shield RMSc Optics Ready is not a universal interface. The cut, plate, recoil lugs, and screws must all be compatible.

Top-load CR1632 Change the battery without removing the optic; you should still check the point of impact regularly.

Motion Activation Automatic activation helps keep the optic ready. The available manufacturer
data lists Auto shutoff after 10 minutes of inactivity.

Limits, drawbacks, and how to avoid a bad purchase

Open emitter: compact, but less protected from dirt and precipitation than an enclosed system.
RMSc is not DPP or RMR: never assume compatibility based on the firearm model alone.
6 MOA is intentionally large: 3 MOA may feel more comfortable for small target zones.
Check holster clearance: the housing and screw/plate setup must fit your actual configuration.

Technical specs with practical context

Reticle 6 MOA red dot – quick to acquire, with greater target coverage at distance.

Click value 1 MOA per click; the reticle size and click adjustment are separate measurements.

Footprint Shield RMSc. Check the specific interface and screws before purchase.

Brightness 8 daylight and 2 NV settings according to available product data.

Battery CR1632, top-load; manufacturer states around 9,500 h at a medium setting.

Dimensions / weight Approx. 40.4 mm long and around 27 g – clearly designed for compact setups.

Included
Defender CCW 6 MOA, CR1632 battery, Picatinny mount, shim plate, protective cover, tool, cleaning cloth, and mounting screw sets. The screws do not guarantee universal compatibility with every platform.
Safe use
Install according to the instructions for the optic, adapter plate, and platform. Check screw length and ensure a secure fit; confirm point of impact after installation and heavy use.
FAQ
What footprint does the Defender CCW use? Shield RMSc. Depending on the platform, a suitable adapter plate may be required. Is 6 MOA too large for 25 m? Not necessarily. The dot covers around 4.4 cm; 3 MOA may feel more comfortable for very fine groups. Does the optic need to be removed to change the battery? No. The CR1632 is accessible from the top. Is the emitter enclosed? No. The Defender CCW is an open micro red dot.
Black Raptor · Footprint before brand name
The Defender CCW 6 MOA is a good choice if RMSc, low weight, and fast dot acquisition are what you need. If you need a different interface or maximum emitter protection, don't buy based on assumptions about adapter compatibility.
