Vortex Venom · 5–25×56 · FFP · EBR-7C MOA Long-Range Scope for a consistently MOA-based system The Venom 5–25×56 prioritizes FFP subtensions, 34mm tube, RevStop, and large distance reserve over low weight. It fits especially well with range and long-range setups where reticle, turrets, data card, and communication are deliberately operated in MOA.
Our honest assessment
The reason to buy is not just the 25x magnification. Crucial are first focal plane, EBR-7C MOA reticle, 1/4 MOA clicks, and RevStop. If you run your entire system in MRAD or are looking for a lightweight stalking scope, you shouldn’t switch to this MOA version just because of the maximum magnification.
Fits well / fits less well
Fits well if … you already use MOA as your working standard, need FFP hold marks across the entire zoom range, and a robust range/long-range scope is more important than minimal weight.
Fits less well if … your data and spotter commands run in MRAD, an illuminated reticle is mandatory, or the optic should remain as light and manageable as possible.
Features with practical impact
FFP instead of SFP The subtensions of the EBR-7C remain proportional to the target. Hold values can be used independently of the chosen magnification.
MOA consistently Reticle and turrets operate in the same unit. This reduces unnecessary conversions between observed deviation, hold value, and click correction.
RevStop RevStop creates a defined mechanical zero reference after elevation adjustments. This does not replace a clean zeroing
eßen, but makes returning to the base easier.
5–25× and 56 mm High magnification and large objective help with detailed work, but increase size, weight, and the demands on stable position and mounting.
Limits, disadvantages and avoiding bad purchases
Don’t mix MOA/MRAD A mixed system of MOA optics, MRAD data card, and MRAD spotter commands creates avoidable sources of error.
25× is not a permanent state Heat shimmer, light, and position stability decide whether maximum magnification actually provides more usable information.
Plan for weight With around 992 g optic weight, the Venom must be considered in the overall system balance; light hunting rifles can become noticeably front-heavy with it.
No illumination This version’s EBR-7C is unilluminated. If you absolutely need illuminated reticles, you need a different optic.
Technical data with practical interpretation
Magnification / Objective 5–25×56 – clearly aimed at distance and detail work.
Reticle plane / Reticle FFP, EBR-7C MOA – holdover marks remain proportional across the zoom range.
Main tube 34 mm – requires matching 34 mm rings or a corresponding mount.
Click / Adjustment range 1/4 MOA; max 85 MOA elevation and windage – fits a consistent MOA workflow.
Parallax 15 yd to infinity – actively control at high magnification, don’t just set by scale value.
Dimensions / Weight approx. 38.9 cm long and approx. 992 g – consider mounting space and balance in advance.
Scope of delivery
Sunshade, Throw Lever, objective/ocular covers, lens cleaning cloth, 2-mm tool, and RevStop components according to manufacturer system.
FAQ
Do the reticle marks work at every magnification? Yes. Thanks to the first focal plane, the subtensions remain proportional to the target. Is the reticle illuminated? No. This EBR-7C version is unilluminated. What mount do I need? The tube is 34 mm. 30 mm or 1-inch rings do not fit. When is the MRAD version more useful? When ballistics app, data card, spotter language, and previous training are already consistently in MRAD.
Black Raptor · Buying advice instead of data sheet copy The Venom 5–25×56 MOA is strong when the rest of the system also speaks MOA. FFP, RevStop, and 34 mm tube make it a coherent distance optic; for mixed units, low weight, or mandatory illumination, there are more suitable solutions.
