Vortex Crossfire HD · 3–9×40 · V-Plex MOA Classic all-rounder with deliberately simple reticle The Crossfire HD 3–9×40 V-Plex relies on a proven zoom range and a calm, non-illuminated reticle. It suits users who don’t need BDC hold marks or extra battery logic.

Our honest assessment
V-Plex is not “less,” but deliberately simpler. If you shoot known distances and prefer a clear sight picture, you can work very precisely with it. If you often hold at changing distances, you’ll benefit more from a BDC reticle or deliberate clicking.
Fits well / fits less well

Fits well if … you’re looking for a classic 3–9×40 for hunting and range, want to stay battery-free, and prefer a calm Plex reticle.

Fits less well if … you need BDC hold marks, illumination, adjustable parallax, or true 1x.

Features with practical impact

3–9×40 Enough overview at the bottom and sufficient detail reserve at the top, without the size and weight of stronger distance scopes.

V-Plex MOA No ballistic special assumption in the reticle. This makes the variant universal but requires known point of impact or turret correction at changing distances.

1-inch tube Requires matching 25.4 mm rings. Ring height and eye relief must fit the specific firearm.

Fixed parallax Set for 100 yd. If you regularly want to precisely engage very different distances, you should choose a model with side parallax adjustment.

Limits, disadvantages and avoiding bad purchases

Not a true close-range scope 3x remains magnified and does not replace a red dot or 1x LPVO.

No hold marks If you want to compensate distance changes without turret correction, BDC is often more practical.

Parallax not adjustable The 100-yd setting is deliberately simple but less flexible for pr
Precise work at significantly different distances.

Don’t choose mounting just by diameter 25.4 mm doesn’t say anything about the required ring height and position on the firearm.
