Black Raptor Product Check · Dry Lubrication
Bore Tech QWIK-DRI
Liquid-applied PTFE lubricant that leaves a dry film after evaporation – for moving parts outside the barrel interior.
Why dry? A dry film is useful when an oily residue would attract dust, lint, or fine dirt – for example on exposed or body-worn assemblies.
The strict product boundary of Bore Tech excludes the barrel interior. For the barrel, the manufacturer recommends Friction Guard XP as a protective/oil solution.
What remains after evaporation
Bore Tech describes QWIK-DRI as submicron PTFE particles in a fast-evaporating carrier. The wet application is only the transport medium; the actual function arises after complete drying as a non-oily lubricating film. The manufacturer cites examples such as bolts, magazines, pistol slides, and trigger assemblies.
Content: 1 fl oz / approx. 30 ml.
Film: dry after carrier evaporation.
Manufacturer temperature range: −100 °F to +600 °F, approximately −73 °C to +316 °C.
Application: apply sparingly to clean, degreased metal surfaces, cycle the movement, and allow to dry completely.
Not for: barrel interior.
Buy if … you want a dry lubricating film instead of an oily residue on approved moving metal parts and want to reduce dust/lint adhesion.
Don’t buy if … you need a barrel cleaner, barrel preservation, primary external rust protection, or adhesive high-load grease for pressure-loaded contact points.
The Bore Tech Care Logic
Friction Guard XP is the fluid oil/protection solution and can be used in the barrel according to the manufacturer. Extreme Grease HD is designed for localized high-load contacts. Shield XP focuses on broad corrosion protection. QWIK-DRI remains the dry lubrication option outside the barrel.
Clean application in five steps
Safely unload the firearm and only access areas approved by the firearm manufacturer.
Remove old oil, grease, and dirt; Bore Tech recommends a degreaser such as Blast Degreaser .
Allow the surface to dry completely.
Apply QWIK-DRI sparingly and cycle the movement several times in a controlled manner.
Allow to dry completely.
n; only then judge the finished film.
Practical/Trainer Tip: Never judge QWIK-DRI while wet. The key point is the separation between the carrier liquid and the finished dry film. Only after complete evaporation can you see whether the application is even and free of puddles.
Safety limit: Smear points and material compatibility follow the firearm manual. Do not use QWIK-DRI as a "one product for everything" and explicitly do not apply inside the barrel.
FAQ
Is QWIK-DRI a gun oil? No. Although applied as a liquid, it leaves a dry PTFE sliding film after evaporation. Is QWIK-DRI allowed in the barrel? No. Bore Tech excludes the barrel interior and refers to Friction Guard XP for that. Where does Bore Tech list typical applications? Among others on rifle bolts, magazines, pistol slides, and trigger groups – always only after approval by the firearm manufacturer. Should it be degreased beforehand? Yes. The surface should be clean and free of old oil or dirt so that the dry film can build up properly. Why is QWIK-DRI interesting in dusty environments? Because after drying, no classic oil film remains where dust and lint can easily stick.
