ZENTRON ZEN C35 – compact clip-on device with clear system logic
The ZEN C35 is aimed at users looking for a lightweight 35 mm thermal clip-on device and who consciously consider adapter, day optic, weight, and image reserve as one system.

Black-Raptor quick check

Strong for
Hunters looking for a compact 35 mm thermal clip-on device with low front weight, 384×288 sensor, and open M45×0.75 adapter system.

Not the first choice for
Very long-range field observation with maximum detail reserve or users who need an integrated laser rangefinder.

The real buying point: weight, field of view, and adapter must fit together
The C35 combines a 384×288 VOx sensor with 12 µm pixel size, ≤20 mK NETD, and a 35 mm f/1.0 lens. Seven Oaks states up to 1,800 m detection range, 410 g weight, and dimensions of 142×65×63 mm.
With a clip-on device, the additional weight sits far forward on the optical system. Therefore, 410 g in practice is more than just a spec sheet value: a lighter device affects balance and handling less than a heavy front module. At the same time, 35 mm focal length provides a more balanced field of view than strongly range-oriented 50 mm systems.

384×288 · ≤20 mK
Resolution determines together with pixel pitch and optics how much image information is available. NETD, on the other hand, describes how finely small temperature differences are separated – especially relevant with little thermal contrast.

35 mm f/1.0
A sensible compromise for forest, stand hunting, and medium-range distances. 1,800 m detection is a manufacturer value for heat detection and not a statement about reliable hunting identification.

M45×0.75
The open connection thread is crucial for adapter choice. Seven Oaks names among others Präzise Jagen, Smartclip AX, and Rotoclip as compatible adapter systems.

2×18350 · up to 7 h
Two batteries operate in the device; the scope of delivery includes a replacement set. Cold, display, recording, and radio functions can reduce the actual runtime.

Practical tip
Always consider clip-on technology as a complete system: day
optics, matching clamp, device and specific configuration must fit together mechanically cleanly. After assembly or changes to the setup, check the point of impact according to manufacturer and range specifications; if in doubt, use a specialist workshop or qualified support.

What separates C35 and larger Zentron models
The C35 is not built for "maximum number wins." Compared to 640×512 models, it lacks detail reserve but remains more compact and lighter. Those covering wide forest and stand situations often benefit more from overview and low front weight than from a large 50 mm optic.
For more sensor resolution without LRF, the ZEN Q635 is interesting as an observation device. For 50 mm range focus plus rangefinding, the ZEN Q50R is the technically different direction.

Functions with real benefit

Easy Mode: reduces operating complexity for frequent functions.

Pre-Record and recordings: 32 GB internal memory for documentation.

Virtual reticle in stored recordings: described by Seven Oaks as a documentation function, not as a live sight.

ZEN LINK / OTA: app and firmware path for media and function updates.

12 color palettes: practical, but in use usually a few familiar palettes make more sense than constant switching.

Legal classification
Permissibility and permissible configuration depend on German weapons and hunting law, state law, specific device configuration/firmware and intended use. Check current regulations and manufacturer instructions before hunting or weapon-related use.

FAQ
What sensor does the ZENTRON ZEN C35 have? The C35 is currently equipped with an uncooled 384×288 VOx sensor, 12 µm pixel size and ≤20 mK NETD.
How heavy is the C35? Seven Oaks states about 410 g. For a clip-on device, weight is relevant because it sits at the front of the optical system.
What interface does the C35 use? The device uses M45×0.75. The specific clamp adapter must fit the day optic used.
What does 1,800 m detection range mean? This is a manufacturer specification for detecting a heat source under defined conditions. It is not equivalent to reliable identification or hunting usable distance.
When is a 640 device more useful? When more image detail and reserve at greater distance are more important than low weight and compact dimensions.
