Our honest assessment

Absolute Co-Witness means the red dot and mechanical sight line are almost at the same height. This can create a direct reference but places the mechanical sight more centrally in the sight window than Lower 1/3.
The biggest mistake is not the height, but the footprint: Aimpoint Micro/T-1 is not RMR, RMSc, or Docter/Noblex.



Fits well if … … your red dot uses an Aimpoint Micro-/T-1-compatible footprint.
… you explicitly want Absolute Co-Witness.
… fixed screws are more important than quick removal.


Less suitable if … … your optic footprint is RMR, RMSc, or Docter/Noblex.

Features and practical effect


Absolute Co-Witness Mechanical sight remains more central in the window. This is a deliberate ergonomic choice, not a general advantage over higher mounts.

Limits, disadvantages and avoiding bad purchases

The correct height also depends on the stock, backup sights, and natural head position. Don’t buy absolute co-witness just by the term, but evaluate it in your own shooting position.
If the footprint is wrong, the optic won’t fit mechanically – even if the housing shape looks similar.

FAQ
Does the mount fit RMR? No. RMR uses a different footprint. Is this a QD mount? No. The attachment is fixed with Torx screws. What does Absolute Co-Witness mean? The mechanical sight line is roughly at the same height as the red dot and therefore appears more centered in the window. When would Lower 1/3 be more useful? If you want to keep the mechanical sight lower in the window or prefer a slightly higher head position.
