UTG · Remington 700 Short Action
MNT-RM700S – compact steel Picatinny base with open ejection window This base is designed for Remington 700 Short Action systems. It provides three Picatinny slots each at the front and rear and leaves the middle area open for case ejection and system operation.

Fits well – and when not so much

Fits well If you own a Remington 700 Short Action and are looking for a sturdy Picatinny foundation for suitable rings or a compatible scope mount.


Fits less well For Remington 700 Long Action, other receiver drilling patterns, or if you specifically need a base with defined cant. This page does not claim any MOA cant, which is not documented in the Shopify data set.


Why the design matters

3 + 3 Picatinny slots The separate rail sections offer ring positions at the front and rear without covering the entire area above the action.


Center cutout The open area supports access and case ejection. After mounting, chamber movement and ejection must still be checked on the specific system.


Steel construction Stability-oriented, therefore heavier than many aluminum bases. At about 122 g, the weight should be considered in the setup.


Base instead of complete mount The rail does not replace mounting rings. Tube diameter, ring
height and eye relief are only determined with the subsequent scope mounting.


Compatibility & Selection Short Action is the hard gate. Check system length and drilling pattern before ordering. "Remington 700" alone is not enough, because Short- and Long-Action bases are not automatically interchangeable. Then choose ring height so that objective, bolt operation and natural hold fit together.

Limits, Disadvantages & Safe Mounting A mounting base must not be "pulled down" under tension. Clean contact surfaces, use correct screws and apply torque in a controlled manner. Then check bolt travel, ejection, ring position, eye relief and clearance of the optic. If in doubt about the system version, have the mounting done by a professional.
