AK Side Rail · 12 + 8 Slots
UTG MNT-973: Dual rail side mount for AK setups with existing Side Rail The Gen-3 mount combines a top 12-slot and a side 8-slot Picatinny/Weaver surface on a one-piece AK side base.
The key purchase point is the receiver side rail: Without a matching existing side rail or if the clamping is not clean, this mount is the wrong choice.

Fits well / rather doesn’t fit

Fits well if … … your AK has a compatible receiver side rail and you plan optics on top plus accessories on the side on one base.
… you can properly adjust the clamping tension and check fit and point of impact after each disassembly.

Rather doesn’t fit if … … no AK side rail is present or you need a specifically model-related M70 solution.
… you expect guaranteed return-to-zero properties or a modern tool-free adjustable QD mount.

Features and practical effect

12-Slot Top Rail Provides room for optic position and eye relief. The overall height of the package must then fit the cheek weld.

8-Slot Side Rail Adds a second accessory surface. It only makes sense if safety, charging movement, and grip hand remain free.

Adjustable lever tension Three adjustment screws serve for clamping tuning. The manufacturer’s existing content does not specify a torque value – so do not transfer foreign values.

Aluminum construction The system remains more compact than adapter chains but at about 213 g is not a weightless addition on the receiver.

Limits, disadvantages and avoiding bad purchases
“For AK” is no universal fit guarantee. Manufacturing tolerances, side rail geometry, dust cover clearance
g and lever tension must be checked on the specific system. The model is listed as discontinued in the existing manufacturer data; this does not guarantee future spare part availability.
Technical data with practical interpretation

Rails Top 12 slots, side 8 slots. Two levels allow separate optic and accessory positioning.

Dimensions Approx. 139.7 × 43.2 × 83.8 mm according to available product data. Especially height and lateral projection affect the cheek weld.

Weight Approx. 213 g. Noticeable on the receiver – plan accordingly for lightweight setups.

Model MNT-973. SKU/model number discreetly for clear identification, not a selling point.

FAQ
Does the MNT-973 fit every AK? No. A compatible receiver side rail is required; dimensions and free play must fit the specific system. Is a torque specified? No numerical value is given in the available manufacturer data for this model. Therefore, do not transfer from other mounts. Is return-to-zero guaranteed? No. Guaranteed repeatability after disassembly is not assured in the available data.
Black Raptor · honestly rated
The MNT-973 makes sense if you want exactly one compatible AK side rail and to use both rail levels. Those looking for just a flat top rail or modern QD adjustment should compare more specifically.
