Remington 870 · 12 Gauge
UTG MT-RM870 – Picatinny Optics Base with Removable Shell Carrier The MT-RM870 combines a full-length Picatinny top rail with a removable four-shot shell carrier for compatible Remington 870 and 870DM Mag-Fed shotguns in 12 Gauge.
Black Raptor take: A good choice if you want a rail and extra shell storage together. If you just want to mount an optic as low as possible, you may not need the carrier.

A good fit / probably not a good fit

A good fit if … you use a compatible Remington 870/870DM in 12 Gauge and want a Picatinny rail plus a removable four-shot carrier in one setup.

Probably not a good fit if … you have a different shotgun platform, are looking for an extremely low-profile optics base, or the side-mounted carrier gets in the way of how you handle or carry the shotgun.

Features and practical impact

Full-length Picatinny rail Provides a defined optics interface and more positioning flexibility than short adapters.

4-shot shell carrier Keeps extra shells organized right on the receiver. Check retention with the ammunition you actually use.

Removable carrier If you want to use the rail but don't want to carry the extra side width all the time, you can consider the carrier separately.

Bead sight access The product data mentions access to the bead sight line; actual usability depends on the optic and mounting height.

Limitations, drawbacks, and how to avoid a bad purchase

870 doesn't mean every shotgun: Check the platform and receiver geometry before buying.
Mistaking the carrier for a bonus: Side-mounted ammunition changes width and weight distribution.
Ignoring optic height: The rail only provides the base; the ring or dot mount determines the actual height.

Black Raptor buying guide
Rail plus carrier – when both are part of the plan. The MT-RM870 is not a universal shotgun mount. It’s worth considering if 870 compatibility, an optic base, and an additional four-shot carrier are exactly what your setup needs.
