True Hunter · 3–9×40 · Front-AO
When a classic magnification range should stay flexible for short to medium distances
The UTG SCP-U394AOIEW combines 3–9× magnification, 40 mm objective, 1″ tube, and a front parallax adjustment from 5 yd (approx. 4.6 m). The included QD rings fit Picatinny/Weaver – not an 11 mm prism rail.
It’s a versatile optic but not particularly light at around 598 g. Mil-Dot reticle and ¼-MOA turrets also require a consciously chosen workflow instead of blind “click equals mark” thinking.
Check mounting and use
Our honest assessment
The True Hunter is a traditional 3–9×40 scope with front AO, illuminated Mil-Dot reticle, and included QD mount. Its advantage isn’t maximum magnification but a well-usable range for changing distances and parallax correction down to close range.
If you’re looking for an especially lightweight optic, a first focal plane reticle, or a consistently uniform MRAD system, you should keep comparing. The turrets adjust in ¼ MOA, while the reticle is designed as Mil-Dot.
Fits well if …
you want to use 3–9× for range, training, or hunting applications, have a Picatinny/Weaver base in front
Was die Merkmale praktisch bewirken
Sinnvolle Alternativen
Gleiche Grundidee, andere Schiene

Scope of delivery
Included are the UTG SCP-U394AOIEW rifle scope, a pair of RG2W1204 QD rings for Picatinny/Weaver, and flip-up objective and ocular lens covers. A CR2032 is required for illumination but is not mandatorily included in the scope of delivery.
Frequently asked questions before purchase
Does the rifle scope fit directly on an 11 mm prism rail? No. The included rings are designed for Picatinny/Weaver. For 11 mm/Dovetail systems, a suitable other mount or the Dovetail version SCP-U394AOIED is required.
What does Front-AO from 5 yd mean? The parallax can be adjusted on the objective from about 4.6 m to infinity. This is especially relevant for short training distances but does not replace ocular focus or a consistent eye position.
Are both reticle and turrets in MRAD? No. The reticle is a Mil-Dot, the turrets adjust in ¼ MOA per click. For precise corrections, a conscious conversion or a personal click chart is therefore advisable.
What ring size is needed? The main tube measures 25.4 mm or 1″. The scope of delivery includes suitable QD rings for Picatinny/Weaver; height and objective clearance must still be checked on the specific setup.
How heavy and long is the model? The manufacturer states about 598 g and 320 mm. This is especially decisive for lightweight platforms and limited mounting space.
Is illumination necessary for dusk? Illumination makes the reticle more visible against certain backgrounds. However, it does not increase the light transmission of the rifle scope. A CR2032 is required.
What is definitely included in the scope of delivery? Rifle scope, a pair of RG2W1204 QD rings for Picatinny/Weaver, and flip-up protective caps. A battery is not mandatorily included.
Black-Raptor purchase decision
First check rail, eye relief, and units – then zero in.
The SCP-U394AOIEW is strong if Front-AO, 3–9×, and the included Picatinny/Weaver mount really fit the setup. Those who need Dovetail, low weight, or a pure MRAD system are better off with a more targeted alternative.
