UTG MNT-95RS05: Riser and rear sight as one assembly
If a red dot sight should sit higher on the AR-Flattop and at the same time a fixed integrated mechanical rear sight is required, the MNT-95RS05 combines both on a 177.8 mm long platform with ten Picatinny slots.
Crucial before buying: The top rail rises by 12.7 mm. This does not automatically guarantee co-witness or the correct sight line – scope medium height, front sight and available rail length must all fit together.

The MNT-95RS05 is not a short universal riser. It combines a long elevated mounting surface with a fixed GI standard A2 rear sight. This saves a separate rear sight and creates ten slots, but occupies 177.8 mm of base rail and adds about 190 g to the setup.
The design makes sense if exactly this combination is sought. If you already have a suitable rear sight, only want to raise a few slots, or need a quickly removable solution, a more compact single riser is more flexible.

UTG calls the assembly for AR flattops and lists Picatinny/Weaver as rail type. Length, grooves, clamping surface, and free operating paths must be checked on the specific system.


Riser height
The top side is 0.5 inch or 12.7 mm higher. The manufacturer’s specification of 1.7 inch or 43.2 mm describes the total height including rear sight, not the pure elevation.


Co-Witness
UTG speaks of close coordination with dot sights. An older verified user report describes co-witness with UTG red dots; this is a single case and not an approval for every optic or mounting height.


Front Sight
A front sight is not included. Its reference height must match the fixed A2 rear sight. A similar optic or a Picatinny interface alone is not enough for a correct sight line.

What the features practically change


Ten Picatinny grooves
The long top offers more positioning flexibility than a compact riser. This helps with operating distance and optic position but costs corresponding space on the base rail.


Fixed A2 rear sight
Two aperture plates as well as windage and elevation adjustment are integrated into the assembly. The rear sight does not fold away; its position and sight line therefore remain part of every optic setup.


Aluminum and anodizing

Mounting, zeroing, and checking


1. Prepare
Fully unload and secure the system. Clean rails, grooves, and clamping surfaces, check for damage, and dry-fit the planned position.


2. Position
Place the assembly without tension and fully. It must not block operating paths. Check optic position and head posture initially without final fixation.


3. Attach

Head position first
A mathematically correct height is useless if the hold is unnatural. Check with usual clothing and actual stock length whether the sight line can be reached consistently.


Set zero point marks
After zeroing, small control marks at the mounting points make visual checks easier. If the mark shifts, the mount must be checked.


Really train backup
A mechanical sight is only a reserve if switching, target acquisition, and different aperture inserts are familiar. The fixed rear sight does not replace regular training.

More compact but higher
