Ballistol Microfiber Patches: Size Matters More Than Quantity The round microfiber patches are used to pick up loosened dirt and cleaning agents as well as to check the cleaning result. The shop offers three diameters and two pack sizes to choose from.

Our Honest Assessment

Patches are great for application, pickup, and final inspection. However, they do not replace a brush or special chemicals when tough deposits need to be removed.
The right size should fit cleanly in the barrel without sticking. A patch that’s too small has too little contact, one that’s too large creates unnecessary resistance.

Limits, Disadvantages and Avoiding Bad Purchases

Don’t press with force: High resistance is a warning sign for wrong size, wrong patch quantity, or unsuitable adapter.
Not a complete system: Cleaning rod, adapter, cleaner, and oil are required separately.

Do the patches replace a cleaning brush? Not generally. They are especially strong for application, absorption, and control; stubborn deposits may require additional steps.
