Ballistol · Barrel Cleaning · Carbon
Carbon Cleaning Rod: first length and diameter, then accessories The carbon cleaning rod is a complete cleaning element with interchangeable handle and adapter depending on the variant. The crucial factor is the choice between 25 or 93 cm as well as 4, 5, or 7 mm – not just the carbon material alone.

Our honest assessment

Carbon is light and stiff and suitable for controlled guidance. Still, the material does not protect against misuse: a cleaning rod that is too short, too thick, or guided at an angle remains the wrong solution.
The listed variants also differ in whether an adapter for one or three felts is included. Therefore, read the full variant designation.

Fits well if … … you are looking for a cleaning rod with handle and matching felt adapter as a complete unit.
… you can select length and rod diameter suitable for your barrels.

Fits less well if … … you already have a handle and adapter and actually only need a replacement rod.
… you expect a “universal size” without caliber/length matching.

Variant choice & practical effect

93 cm For longer barrels and long gun applications. Practical tip: plan enough working length without hitting the handle on the barrel base.

25 cm For short barrels and compact applications. Practical tip: handier on the workbench but not sufficient for long barrels.

Ø 4 / 5 / 7 mm The rod diameter must match the caliber range. Practical tip: don’t choose “as thick as possible,” but ensure secure free guidance.

Interchangeable handle + adapter The variants are designed as a cleaning rod solution. Practical tip: fewer parts to start with, but felts/patches/
Cleaners remain consumables.

Limits & Avoiding Wrong Purchases

The most common wrong purchase is the wrong combination of length and diameter. Also note: The .17 versions work with Ø 4 mm and an adapter for one felt; other variants mention adapters for three felts.
Do not push further if noticeable jamming occurs. Cleaning medium, adapter, and rod must match.

Technical Data with Practical Interpretation

Material Carbon. Practical: light and stiff, but still guide straight and controlled.

Lengths 25 cm or 93 cm. Practical: choose according to barrel length.

Diameter 4, 5, or 7 mm. Practical: ensure free guidance in the respective caliber.

Variants 8 versions with different length, thickness, and adapter logic. Practical: compare full designation instead of just price.

Scope of Delivery
1 × Ballistol Carbon cleaning rod in the chosen variant including interchangeable handle and the felt adapter specified in the variant. Cleaning felts, patches, brushes, cleaners, and oils are not automatically included.

FAQ
What is the difference to the Carbon cleaning rod? The cleaning rod is offered in the listed variants with interchangeable handle and adapter; the cleaning rod shaft is the single component. Which length do I need? 25 cm for short applications, 93 cm for longer barrels. The actual barrel length is the measure. Is Ø 7 mm always better because stiffer? No. The diameter must fit the caliber and free guidance. Are cleaning felts included? The adapter is included depending on the variant; consumable felts themselves are not automatically part of the scope of delivery.
Black Raptor · System choice before material hype
Carbon makes sense – but only in the right size. Clarify length, diameter, and adapter logic before purchase, then the cleaning rod becomes a clean tool instead of improvisation.
