Understanding height correctly
The height describes, for many Recknagel mounts, the distance from the mounting base to the underside of the scope main tube. It is not automatically the optical center.


Very low height: close to the barrel axis, good cheek weld, but little clearance for large objectives.

Medium height: usually suitable for classic hunting scopes with 50–56 mm objective.

High height: useful for large objectives, thick barrels, or when additional front/accessory solutions need clearance.

As a rule of thumb: as low as possible, as high as necessary. The decisive factor is always the actual outer diameter of the objective, not just the nominal size.

Always the same slot: mark the mounting position and use it consistently.
