If your firearm has an 11-mm prism, Picatinny is not automatically the right solution. The Recknagel AKM 11 mm is a flip-up mount for firearms with an 11-mm prism rail – ideal if you want to mount a scope or rail optic directly and cleanly on this base.

Especially with classic hunting, rimfire, or system firearms with prism rails, the correct interface is crucial. A wrong mount can jam, slip, or unnecessarily destabilize the point of impact.

Why 11-mm AKM instead of adapter?
An 11-mm prism is its own interface. Of course, you can often work with adapters – but every adapter increases height and adds another potential error source to the system. A suitable AKM directly on 11 mm is usually the cleaner solution.

You keep the optic lower and more aligned.

Understanding height correctly
The height describes on many Recknagel mounts the distance from the mounting base to the underside of the scope main tube. It is not automatically the optical center.


Very low height: close to the barrel axis, good cheek rest, but little clearance for large objectives.

Medium height: usually sensible for classic hunting scopes with 50–56 mm objective.

High height: sensible for large objectives, thick barrels, or when additional front/accessory solutions need clearance.

As a rule of thumb: as low as possible, as high as necessary. The decisive factor is always the real outer diameter of the objective, not just the nominal size.

Pro tip: Don’t confuse 11 mm with 3/8 inch
11-mm rails and similar inch/prism sizes can look very close. Check the actual measurement of your firearm. A mount that only “almost” fits is no solution for point of impact and safety.
