Wildlife Camera · Solar · Permanent Location
ICU icusun: Solar panel for fewer battery changes The icusun is designed for wildlife camera setups that run for extended periods at a fixed location. It can reduce battery changes – provided voltage, connection, light yield, and camera consumption match up.

Our honest assessment

The biggest benefit is not the wattage alone, but fewer trips to the hunting ground to change batteries. On trail cameras and permanent locations, this can make operation much more predictable.
In dense forest, with north-facing orientation, or in winter, solar output remains limited. The panel is therefore an energy supplement, not a guarantee for unlimited operation.

Works well if … … your camera stays permanently at a fixed location.
… the location receives several hours of usable daylight.
… voltage and plug match the camera.

Less suitable if … … the camera is frequently moved.
… the location is permanently heavily shaded.
… voltage or connection of your camera are unclear.

Features and practical effect

Up to 5.4 W Maximum power according to shop data under good light conditions. Shade, season, and orientation reduce the actual energy yield.

6-/12-V compatibility Use only with matching camera/connection configuration. Voltage before the
Check connection.

18650 system The stored data indicates space for up to three 18650 batteries. Battery type and configuration must match the intended use.

234 × 194 × 34 mm Enough surface for a fixed location, but no mini module for constantly changing mounting points.

Limits, disadvantages and avoiding bad purchases

A solar panel only delivers as much as location and weather allow. Branch shadows, low winter sun, and snow can significantly reduce performance.
Route cables so that water does not run along the cable into connectors. Regularly check connector fit and seals.

Technical data with practical interpretation

Power Max. 5.4 W according to stored data – peak value, not continuous power in all weather conditions.

Voltage 6 V / 12 V depending on camera and connection concept.

Batteries Up to three 18650 Li-Ion cells according to shop data.

Charging time About 8–12 hours in full sunlight according to stored product data; real time depends on location.

Scope of delivery
ICU icusun solar panel, adapter cable, mounting bracket, and external battery charger according to current shop content. Batteries should only be considered included if explicitly stated in the specific delivery.
Safe use
Check voltage and polarity before connecting. Do not use damaged cables or wet connectors. Use Li-Ion batteries only with suitable charging methods and if undamaged.
FAQ
Does the panel fit every trail camera? No. Voltage, plug, and polarity must match the camera. Does it work in the forest? Yes, as long as the mounting point gets enough light. Permanent shade significantly reduces usefulness. Does it completely replace battery changes? Not necessarily. The actual energy balance depends on sun, camera consumption, temperature, and battery condition. Where should the panel be mounted? Preferably with free light exposure and so that cables and connectors can be protected.
Black Raptor · Location matters
The icusun is especially worthwhile at a fixed permanent location. Good alignment and real compatibility are more important than pure maximum power on the datasheet.
